Extreme Sports in Ireland
If you enjoy the thrill of extreme sports, then Ireland has much to offer!
There are numerous activities you can try here, including...
Hand-gliding, Rock-climbing, Abseiling, Rollerblading, Parachuting and Ballooning.
Hang-Gliding:
Learn how to fly and see Ireland from the skies!
One of the most popular areas in Ireland for hang-gliding is Mount Leinster in Carlow.
If you would like to see some incredible views of the country, then this is definitely the activity for you.
Rock-climbing and Abseiling:
Rock climbing is a great activity, especially if you enjoy more challenging pastimes.
Of course there are many locations for rock-climbing in Ireland, most of which are along coastal areas.
There are a number of clubs in Ireland if you are interested in burning lots of energy!
Like rock-climbing, abseiling is another good way to get some nice views, this time as you descend down a mountain.
Abseiling is often viewed as more dangerous than rock-climbing, but then again...that's what these sports are all about!
Rollerblading:
Rollerblading is great fun and is not just an extreme sport.
In Ireland, the pastime is becoming more popular and over the last number of years, there are more skateparks being built in urban areas around the country.
Even if you prefer to stay away from the skateparks, rollerblading is a very good way to exercise here.
Parachuting:
Is there any more extreme sport than jumping out of an airplane?
Maybe, but I don't think so.
The main sky diving centres in Ireland are located in Offaly and Tipperary, two areas in the centre of the country.
If you feel like a real adrenalin rush, then parachuting is the activity for you!
Ballooning:
I think this is definitely THE best way to see Ireland from the skies.
It may not be as crazy as the other sports, but I think the experience is like nothing else.
You can choose to fly in many locations around Ireland and there really are some incredible sites to see...
