Student Card

One of the best ways to save money on your travels is with a student card.

Remember though, if you plan to use public transport in Ireland on a regular basis, you will need to request a student TravelCard.

This also entitles you to receive numerous discounts in Ireland, for example... 'cell phones', 'clothes' and lots more!

When I was coming to Ireland for the first time, I didn't have any student card as I had been working for several years in Brazil.

I could have applied in Brazil, but I decided to wait and apply for my Travelcard in Ireland.

So...what exactly do you need to get your Student Travelcard?

Basically all you need is...

  • your school Identification, proving you are a fulltime student
  • and

  • a "Student Travelcard Application Form"

  • There is a processing fee of 15 Euro and you can have your Travelcard on the same day,

or have it delivered by post.

There are a number of schools around Ireland where you can apply, or you can download the Application Form and send it by post.

If you are posting the form, don't forget to get a signature from your school and include your photographs.

If you choose a request by post, you can also apply at many "Youth Information Centres" across the country. For more information, you can visit the Student Travelcard website.
